Tall Sized Rant: The “Uplift”
My store is in the process of its “uplift”. I walk in this morning before my shift, and tell me why we lost HALF of our seating? We had benches lining the walls with several round tables and chairs, but now we have approx. 7 chairs and little coffee tables. We are the busiest store in the area, I’m not sure why we now have 7 seats minus the community table in the center of the cafe. Not everyone is comfortable sitting shoulder to shoulder with a stranger, especially if they’re on a zoom call or in a meeting. We have so many people who come in to do work and homework, and I feel like this is counterintuitive on our “mission” to be a “third place”. I’m hoping we get more seats, because this is really going to poorly affect our numbers. The chairs are totally comfortable and are cute! But we need more of them in order to cater to our customers. I know it’s only day one, but I’m crossing my fingers that more furniture will come.
