Then and Now – Can You Hear the Difference?

Then and Now – Can You Hear the Difference?

Over the last few months we’ve been slowly learning, experimenting, and trying to improve our sound step by step. We never wanted to rush the process or pretend to be something we’re not. Most of our earlier tracks were created with very limited tools while we were still learning how everything works.

A good example of this is the difference between:
“In the Depth of Shadows”
and our newer track
“Cracked but Breathing”.

The older track was made without VST/VSL instruments and with a much simpler setup, while the newer one was built using better virtual instruments, layering, atmosphere work, and more attention to sound design and mixing. It’s still not perfect, and we still have a lot to learn, but for the first time we can really hear the progress ourselves.

We’re curious if other people can hear the difference too.

Older sound:
In the Depth of Shadows

Newer sound:
Cracked but Breathing

This project was never built around hype. Just slow progress, learning, experimenting, and trying to build something real over time.

Took a little break and made this apple pie , and cottage cheese pie.The apple side is with cinnamon, raisins, lemon and a bit of maple syrup — turned out extra juicy because I didn’t squeeze the apples, but I like it that way.The cottage cheese side is simple: cottage cheese, egg, a bit of sugar, lemon and sour cream. Not perfect, but definitely homemade 🙂

Been spending a lot of time working through different versions of our tracks lately, so today I stepped away for a bit and made something instead.Sometimes taking a break like this actually helps more than pushing through.Curious how others deal with that balance — do you take breaks or just keep going until it clicks?

Still exploring a darker, more atmospheric direction with our tracks.

We’ve got another one coming out tomorrow — it went through quite a few versions before we settled on something that felt right.

Happy to share it if anyone’s interested. :

Not really chasing perfection, just trying to find something that feels honest.

If anyone’s working in a similar space, I’d be curious how you approach knowing when a track is “ready”.

Hey,

I’ve been reading a lot of posts here and it’s honestly really motivating to see people just sharing where they’re at.

We’ve recently started putting out some music, but behind each track there are actually multiple versions before we choose one that feels right. We’re still figuring out our sound trying to keep it atmospheric, a bit raw, and not over-polished.

It’s not perfect, and maybe not for everyone, but we’re trying to build something honest rather than just “clean”.

Seeing people here talk about unfinished songs, ideas, or even just a few lines… that actually feels very familiar.

Just wanted to say if you’re in that stage, keep going.

We’re at the beginning too.

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who’s taken the time to listen and leave feedback on our tracks so far it really means a lot.

We’ve recently been experimenting more with a darker, more atmospheric sound. Each track actually goes through multiple versions before we settle on one that feels right, so we’re still very much figuring things out as we go.

Not sure if this direction will connect with everyone, but we’re trying to stay consistent and build something that feels honest rather than perfect.

A lot of the feedback here has been really helpful, especially around space, layering, and dynamics so thank you for that.

More tracks are coming soon, and we’re taking our time with them.

Appreciate any thoughts or just people taking a listen 🙏

If anyone’s working in a similar style, I’d love to hear how you approach layering and keeping clarity without losing atmosphere.

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on a darker, atmospheric style and trying to build a consistent sound across multiple releases.

This is one of my latest tracks:

I’m still early in the process and experimenting a lot, so I’d really appreciate honest feedback – especially on:

- the overall mood and atmosphere

- mix balance

- how engaging it feels

I’m also happy to return feedback if you drop your track.

Thanks for listening 🙏
