My algorithm has been showing me so many sweet videos of queer people in love lately. With that, have been videos of lesbians loving on and taking care of their partner. However, some of the most popular comments-especially when it’s a stud- will be, “A man could never” “Ladies, why are we still dating men?” “I wish I was a lesbian/bi.” I used to see captions like that from queer creators too! I’ll admit I used to like the comments when I was a little younger, but now I find them annoying. Why do ppl keep mentioning men to “compliment” a stud? Studs have NOTHING to do with men. Not even masculinity is exclusive to cis men, so why do they keep entering the conversation in places they are not even present? I’m a fem, so studs can weigh in, but isn’t that just like saying “You’re pretty for a black girl?” wtf kind of compliment is that? And the sad part is some of us eat it up because of straight women’s validation of our queerness.

The other thing is that imo, you can still be male centered as a queer person if you are bi-phobic or pan-phobic. That’s because they assume you’re dirty if you’ve been with a man. Lesbian and bi women are fetishized by straight men and they’ll claim you haven’t found the right man yet, but if you’re a woman in the queer community and you’ve dated men in the past (whether you’re actually attracted to them or not) some women will assume that you’ll leave them for a man. I remember having to scroll past so many profiles on Taimi because there would be a good percentage of profiles with “NO BISEXUALS” or “I like mine lesbian ONLY” and I left them alone because again, it’s just feeding into the stereotype that bisexuals are some type of promiscuous sluts that can’t resist men and don’t take wlw relationships seriously. I can understand why you wouldn’t want to date straight women because by their own definition they won’t love you back no matter what. BUT the funny thing is that straight women can often get away with playing in y’all face because you see it as a challenge. And in this case, I don’t think bisexual women are the underlying problem.

I know it can be traumatic to get cheated on or see your girl leave and immediately start dating a man, but be SO for real. Both of y’all have your own de-centering to do. Same thing with bisexual men. Some women will deadass not want to be with a man because he’s been with a man in the past and label him as confused or straight up gay. That shit is so WEIRD to me. Why do you care??? This stereotype is centering the relationship to men instead of the PERSON.

If you are insecure about your partner having been with a man in the past…that’s a little weird and I think it goes deeper than just preference. Y’all weigh in though, I’m open to listening. What’s the general consensus?
