New job cancelled after I handed in my notice
I’m looking for some advice regarding a job situation here in Ireland.
Last week, I received an official offer letter for a new role with a multinational company in Cork. Based on that, I handed in my notice at my current company.
Today, I received a call saying that the position I accepted has now been cancelled.
So at the moment:
- My resignation has already been submitted and processed
- My current employer already knows I’m leaving
- My current company even offered me more money to stay, but I refused because I had already committed to the new role
- Going back now may create a very awkward environment
I’ve always tried to handle things professionally and leave on good terms, which makes this situation even harder to process.
Just wondering, has anyone gone through something similar?
Appreciate any advice or thoughts.
