The law should be blind to religion rather than going out of its way to offer accommodations for it
The way I see it the correct interpretation of freedom of religion isn’t to creat a bunch of exemptions to various laws for various religions, it’s to not even take religion into consideration when passing laws. Do away with ALL religions exemptions
The law should apply to all equally. You as a religious person should have the exact same rights as a non religious person, no more and no less. If your religion calls for you to do something illegal, tough shit. If the government is planning to ban something your religion practices or legalize something your religion finds abhorrent, also tough shit.
That being said I also don’t think laws should be passed that are specifically targeted at certain religions. The law needs to have a secular reason that applies regardless of religion. No passing laws against something specifically because you don’t like the group who does it.
