My tv isn't 'broke', cables are all connected, etc, etc. What would you do in this scenario, just go with what the tv is showing and go with the 31 clicks regardless? Seeing that some sort of tone mapping(?) is still overriding in some way the handshake between the two devices? Or should I ignore the pictogram and manually go with the clicks that closest represents my TVs actual nit value?
Further info and example if interested:
I've had it set at 31 clicks before with the thinking "ok, my tv isn't capable of that many nits by far, but it's telling me 'give me that room to work with and I'll tailor it'. Bot had many issues, bar a couple games. Right now the issue I'm having is with Witcher 3 next gen version, with Ray tracing on, PS5. I've read the issues some people have with RT (flickering, unstable frame rate even at 30, and more) but I'm comfortable with 30fps, there's very few noticeable flickering instances so far for me. The problem I'm having is the stark difference between dark and light at times, ONLY in midday when Sun is out. The 'drop off' between shadowed parts of trees to the briggt of the Sun (no obvious clipping) is strianing my eyes. The RT is clearly working as it intends, albeit the HDR calibration settings within the game is a known issue, but too harshly which I believe must be my PS5 calibration issue. about with this, it's driving me nuts.
