I finally decided to buckle down and get the Plat for one of my favorites REs. I probably have more nostalgia for 5 than I do OG4. All the countless hours spent on Co-op, both in the campaign and especially Mercenaries, as well as solo, can't be replaced.
I've seen that a few people don't look at 5 too favorably now, and hey, to each their own, but man this is one of the REs for me.
The great gameplay of OG4 with a slightly faster pace due to the inventory as well as being able to switch weapons on the fly, the expanded melee moveset, cool stuff like the partner combos. The game just feels good to play.
I totally get why people don't like that 5 went in even more on the action side, and I understand why people who want more survival horror, or even action horror, dislike how much more action-y it is. But me personally, as long as an RE game has what I consider fun gameplay, be it survival horror (like the OG trilogy, 1 REmake, 7, etc) or action horror/action, and a silly but fun story about fighting against bioterrorism and monsters, I'm all for it. And 5 for me accomplishes that.
So thank you, RE5, you are a fantastic game that I will keep playing more and more in the future.
