What Workout to Use

I do functional strength training, a mix of weight and cardio, things like TRX exercises and deadlifts and many combo moves like “step up to balance and press”. Infuriatingly, Strava now imports functional strength training as “physical therapy “ and all my friends are wanting to know what’s injured! So I’m looking for a different category. What’s best? I may end up at “traditional weight training “ but I feel like that’s not a good fit.

Suggestions?

Activity type changed on Apple Watch import?

For years I’ve been tracking workouts with my AppleWatch as “functional strength training “. Strava imported them as “weight training “ which was fine since that’s mostly it. Suddenly a couple of weeks ago they changed the imported activities to “physical therapy”. Friends reached out to find out what I had injured! And strava’s app wants to know what body part I’m working, which is just annoying.

I changed nothing on the watch, so it’s likely at Strava’s end. Any clues?

Also, I assume I’m missing it, but I searched every screen of the Strava iPhone app and cannot find “help” or “support” to ask them directly.

I updated to IOS 26.4.2 this week on my 10th gen iPad. Since then the native Mail app takes roughly forever to fetch new mail from my primary Gmail account. I have it on demand not push or in background, which is the same setting I’ve used since I got my first iPad years ago. By “forever” I mean more than 5 (FIVE) minutes! In other words, the app is essentially unusable. I’ve reverted to using the Gmail app, which still works instantly.

I’ll experiment with push mail. The main reason I haven’t used it is battery life, don’t know if that is a factor any more.

Anyone else have this problem?

I once spent several hours in the middle of the night on the street outside my hotel in London after a fire alarm went off. As I smelled smoke, I didn’t take the time to dress but grabbed my overcoat and purse, jammed my feet in shoes with no socks, and ran down the stairs. After that experience, I have generally traveled with sweat pants and a baggy tee to sleep in case I end up on the street with nothing else. Not only modest, but not clearly pajamas, street acceptable (at least if I was on my way to the gym). Another advantage I’ve found is I can make a trip to the lobby for coffee without having to get dressed first. But it’s bulky.

What do you take to sleep in? I don’t want to sleep in clingy leggings, I like loose and breathable, not revealing, but I want to reduce bulk. Are there some packable bottoms you can recommend? For a top, I think I can find a bamboo tee that packs smaller than cotton.

Thanks!

I’ve just started looking at the sun exposure feature in Apple Health and 3rd party apps. I presume they all get the same base data from the watch. But how does the watch know you are outside and not just in a well lit room or one with big windows?

(Also, it’s not really been warm enough to wear short sleeves yet, so I imagine the data gets better when not covered by sleeves)
