[KCD2] - environmental storytelling masterpiece

Just mooching around on my hardcore playthrough and found a burned down house, with skeletons of an adult sheltering a child and an adult clawing at the door.

I have never played a game with such unbelievable environmental story telling - non signposted design elements like this make the story breath, and it’s a genuine masterpiece

Removed and disassembled the whole thing - spring was snapped as expected (meaning no tension on the chain)! Chain is also significantly too short as you guys ID’d, thank you 🙇‍♂️

My best attempt at manufacturing a replacement spring and it seems to have worked out brilliantly! Couldn’t keep the turns as ‘stacked’ as the original so ended up being 2 turns less, but reinstalled under tension and gear shifts have become CRISPY (video to follow)

Massive thanks for the support in this group

The cage pivot was originally stuck solid, and I’ve worked it to be ‘free’ (read still stiff but moving). There’s no ‘spring’ action on it though

Going to remove, degrease and assess but I think the spring is gone. Any ideas of donors I can find…? Or is it make one myself and hope for the best 😆?
