All of my hard work these past few months is likely in vain and I think the rest of my (30) life will remain stuck in place when I thought I had a second lease from a debilitating disease. Froot Loops and PB&J

About 8 years ago I was diagnosed with Narcolepsy as I found a pretty easy tech job that became work from home around 2019. Fast forward to seven months ago and I asked for a different drug to treat my Narcolepsy and after a month I was a new man. I had been in a brain fog for the last 16 years due to my irregular sleep stages every night.

I realized I hated my job, hated my life and wanted to do better. I decided to become a nurse and in January started on night school for my prerequisites. I applied to a local hospital for mealtime volunteering and started last week. I stopped eating out all the time and took up simple batch cooking and I even joined a rpg table and made some friends.

Today my sleep doctor called and I was off. I had come back from my volunteer shift, dozed off, woke up and was about to eat when he called. I was kinda slow on the call and couldn't focus and he said I sounded like I was incapacitated and drunk. He read me the robot act about how I'll need to be on the ball and sharp as a nurse and how it can put everyone including myself in danger if I can't get myself sorted. And he's right.

Why the hell did I pick this path, I mean I love medicine and I wanted to try a job where you'll meet more people, but I'm really thinking about whether this will work. I think it might have had something to do with blood sugar since I'm diabetic. I wasn't super low but I remember my dad would get similarly confused or flustered when he went too long without eating and he was type 2 too.

Anyway this is getting long, but the thing that really adds insult to injury is this is my first breakdown since the new medicine so I'm actually thinking about it clearly and it doesn't look very good.
