Need advice from all the marketing girlies out here

I’m a 20F, currently in my 2nd year at DU and lately I’ve been feeling like everyone around me already has things figured out except me. . Over the last year, through internships, college events, and being around startup/brand spaces, I realised I genuinely want to explore marketing seriously. But since I’m coming from a completely different academic background, I still sometimes feel very underconfident while applying for roles in this space.

Everyone already seems to have polished LinkedIns, referrals, startup circles, amazing internships etc while I still feel like I’m figuring things out as I go. So I really wanted to ask people already in this field what genuinely helped you early on? What skills or experiences actually mattered while applying for internships and how did you know you were moving in the right direction instead of just doing random things to build your CV??also, is it actually worth doing unpaid internships initially just to get experience and break into the field?
