Hi! I have a handful of small/medium slabbed pieces like this cave onyx that are basically satin finished… maybe a few saw marks here and there or some rough edges but for where I’m at in collecting, that doesn’t really bother me. I’d like to know what I can do to give these pieces more of a wet/shiny/bright polished look? I tried to google it but ended up more confused, so I’m hoping someone can explain-like-I’m-five for me!

I don’t have any lapidary equipment but we do have a shed full of various power tools if that helps, and I’m willing to invest in some supplies (although nowhere near ready to take the plunge to a flat lap or anything big).

Really appreciate any advice :) thanks

So afraid you guys are gonna tell me this is AI when I had absolutely no idea, but I put a lot of love into this and I didn’t think I was going to finish in time to gift it for Mothers Day and I’m too jazzed not to share it!! I did 3 strands on 16 count which is bulky but I wanted it to look like a tapestry and I love the way it turned out. Time to frame it!!

Messy back included to encourage other messy back stitchers :)

(First of all, the chair will eventually get reupholstered, probably). Trying to decide what to do about a rug in the seating area of the living room of my 1880s farmhouse. I’m blanking on what to do look for in color and size. I’d kind of like it to be under the couch at least a bit to help stop the couch from sliding all over the place, but Spouse is against putting a corner of a rectangular rug under the cattycorner cabinet holding the TV bc he says that would look weird. He suggests an oval rug, but then I don’t think we could get any of it under the couch.

I’m also open to rearrangement suggestions (except for putting the tv over the fireplace, that’s a no-go). Style is a comfy, lived-in, semi-eclectic, antique-thrift, but willing to go with new where needed!

Tysm DesignMyRoom in advance for working your magic :)
