Is "compiling shaders" the new loading ?

I'm an old gamer so I'm used to loading screens before the game kicks off.

Recent years and faster hard drives meant loading was almost effectively dead.

Loading in the game gets hidden behind some fancy new mechanic too.

But recently on some bigger high definition games I noticed the "compiling shaders" messages or warnings that performance would be impacted if I didn't let them finish the process. So it just struck me that we're back to the loading screens again

I just wanted to say thank you to the devs. I don't think I have ever played a more beautiful or impressive "Free" game in a very long time.

I'm constantly finding new things to say wow about or wanting to talk to other gamers about.

I am blown away by the level of quality and effort. Thanks for the experience.

From a very old Irish gamer
