Unreachable/difficult-to-reach attic top plates: worth sealing? Any soffit-safe hacks?
I’m working on air sealing my attic top plates, and while I’ve been able to crawl back and seal most areas with spray foam, several outside perimeter areas are basically unreachable, even if I remove the custom baffles and insulation.
I considered using a 6-8 ft spray foam extension, but with limited visibility I’m worried it would make a mess, miss the target, or accidentally block the soffit vents or baffle openings.
Are there any legitimate hacks, extension tools, safe aerosol sealants, waterproof/seal sprays if that would work, or “good enough/worth the time” methods for sealing drywall/top plate air leaks in these tight perimeter areas without creating moisture or ventilation problems later?
I’m willing to remove baffles, insulation, or even strategically open drywall from the inside if that is the only approach that actually makes sense for the time and effort involved.
The main problem areas are the outside perimeter top plates, especially where access is extremely tight or completely unreachable from the attic. Considering whether to do this before I spray loose insulation into these areas.
