Can I abandon my own spell after it gets countered?

Let’s say I play a spell.
My opponent decides to defy it.

Question:
Am I allowed to let his defy resolve and then abandon my own (countered) spell so that I can play it again?

Decided to play Curious Village on my phone after so many years and it was a lot of fun (I didn’t remember anything).

That said, I’m almost done with the game but the very last weekly puzzles seem so random… I don’t want to spoil anything (has it been 20 years?) but did they went crazy or just run out of ideas?

Edit: oh and in W25 (the shoes one) they just forgot to give you the “one shoe” condition, no? At least in the Italian version all answers SHOULD be correct (for how it’s worded)

In front of everyone appears a button.

You can ignore this button and nothing will happen, it will go away tomorrow.

If you press this button you are going to die, unless more than 50% of world population also presses it.

Would you press this Button?

>! Please answer before you read the next sentence !<

>!This is obviously an alternative way of expressing the recent blue vs red button, but I am asking this because I feel like wording will allow people to make different decisions!<
