White screen of death for Bank of America IOS app
For anyone else dealing with the issue where the Bank of America app on iPhone opens to a blank white screen, I wanted to share the only reliable fix I’ve found after battling this for months.
What finally worked for me was:
- Delete the Bank of America app
- Go to Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset Network Settings
- Reinstall the app
After doing that, the app started working normally again.
The downside is that resetting network settings is a pain because it wipes out all saved Wi-Fi networks and some other network-related settings. But in my experience, it’s the only thing that consistently fixes the white screen issue.
I also strongly recommend NOT re-enabling Face ID login after reinstalling the app. Instead, just use Apple’s password autofill. Yes, it takes a few extra seconds to log in manually, but every time I turn Face ID back on, the app eventually goes back to the “white screen of death” again.
If you’re in a hurry and don’t have time to go through all of these steps, restarting the iPhone will sometimes make the app open normally again — but not always. And having to reboot your phone every time you want to check your bank account gets old fast.
Hopefully this helps someone else because this issue has been incredibly frustrating.
