2013 XV Crosstrek TR580 CVT – subtle jolt at one specific ratio point.
Looking for opinions on what’s going on with my CVT. 251,000 km on the car.
At one consistent point during acceleration – what feels like the “3rd to 4th” simulated ratio change – RPMs climb to around 3000 then drop sharply to \\\~2500 with a noticeable jolt. Subtle but consistent and reproducible. Doesn’t happen at any other point in the ratio range.
Here’s what I’ve already ruled out:
• Fresh drain and fill with correct CVTF-II fluid, level verified at operating temp using the overflow port method
• Battery was disconnected during the service so TCU adaptation was already reset
• Symptom improved a bit after the fluid change but is still present.
Thoughts? I know the TR580 is notorious for valve body solenoid issues; but I don’t know enough to rule out or in other issues.
Video shows the issue at 00:02 and then an example of a smooth shift at 00:12
Thanks for your help!
