Fostering in Ireland?
Hi everyone,
My partner and I are starting to seriously look into fostering and we’d really appreciate hearing from people who have experience with the process.
We’re especially interested in:
What the assessment and approval process was like
Is long term fostering really possible
The emotional side of caring for very young children, especially when reunification is the goal
Any practical advice you wish you’d known before starting
We understand fostering infants can involve emergency placements, medical needs, and a lot of uncertainty, so we’re trying to go in with realistic expectations.
If you’ve fostered babies (short-term, emergency, or long-term), or even gone through the application process in Ireland, we’d love to hear about your experience good or bad.
