Hello everyone! I am an incoming undergraduate this Fall quarter. I am a non-traditional student and have worked hard to get into UC San Diego. However, I do feel a bit hesitant due to some posts I read about how unwelcoming people can be to students who are on the older side. Have any of you, older students, witnessed this? Or has it been the opposite in your experience?

Also, I was looking through the college website for different departments and the majority of the faculty being white is a bit off-putting. There is little to no diversity among faculty, even the assistant professors or research assistants. I just wanted to get some opinions regarding these observations.

Any input would truly be helpful, thank you for your time!

Update: Hey everyone, thank you so much for commenting thus far! I am not worried about the making friends aspect. It is more of the energy given towards older students! I would of course appreciate if I make any friends on the way but it is not a top priority of mine during my educational journey.
