Hello, we will be moving to Scottsdale from a NYC suburb in about a month. We have an HOA that asks you to pick up any fallen fruit to help prevent roof rats (the house comes with a couple of small fruit trees). Our home is a Mediterranean style home where you have to walk through the living room and kitchen to get to the big cans in the garage. I'd like to keep a small garbage in our yard where I can put any fallen fruit and our dogs' poop, and then empty whenever there is main garbage for pick up. I'd spray it with Lysol each time to keep the smell down. This way I won't be carrying poop and spoiled fruit through the kitchen to the garage every day. I know I will need something that is sealed to keep out the rats. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know I can't leave it in the sun or it will melt. We have a shaded area. I want to make sure I am helping and not causing more of an issue. Thank you for any advice.
