Personally, I'd be very curious to see how good they really are at war tactics. Considering they have ritualized behavior and even duels, and how many different threats they must've evolved to deal with, I'd really love to see the outcome if we ever figured out how to challenge an ant colony to chess or other strategic wargames.

I heard this story on the radio some years ago and now I can't find it again. I recall it was associated with Christmas somehow, and that it was written like a vision quest. It reminded me of a nightmare. It was about a man, though I can't for the life of me remember what he was doing. I'm certain there was a toad or a frog in there somewhere, and there was a mention of blue fire.

Sorry about the vagueness, but I remember being quite fascinated by it and I'd love to hear it again. Thanks for your time.

I was in a discussion that touched on the topic of search and rescue of children who wander into the woods and the type of terrain they gravitate to. One person said they're more likely to climb mountains to get up, and another said they're more likely to go down and follow creeks and rivers.

Of course all children are individuals, but in a scenario where the missing child is just wandering casually with no weather or hunger pressure, would they be statistically more likely to seek out one or the other first? In the case limited search party resources and no clear trail to start at, would it be at all worth it to seek out any specific type of terrain to begin the search?
