That was quite the shock

That was quite the shock

Was out detecting with a friend yesterday and pulled this from the ground, thinking at first that it was just another unidentifiable chunk of metal. It turned out I was very wrong indeed! I’ll try to treat it to see if there’s any original paint left

Battlefield relic M42 after a proper derusting

I recently posted about this helmet on here, assuming that it was a winter camo version, after giving it a bath in oxalic acid. However I decided that it was worth a shot to try some limestone remover on it, as someone had mentioned in the comments of my first post that the white stuff might be that- and it worked, showing me a tiny bit of original green paint at the top. I immediately mixed up another acid bath and put the helmet in for a few hours. After a bit of brushing with soap I was left with this: A much cleaner looking relic, showing decent amounts of original paint, compared to the white mess it was before. I’ve read online that you should coat derusted relics like this in oil. Any specific suggestions?

What is this headstamp?

Found this while metal detecting, but I can’t find any info online. I assume it’s E 7 96, but the E looks rather odd and could easily be be some sort of symbol too.

This was found around a former military training facility near Munich so I would assume it’s a shell casing. However there’s no info on the bottom and I have never really seen anything like it. Any help would be appreciated.

Is this normal? Every single casing I found up until now was at least somewhat damaged at the top, the one in picture 2 only had slight deformation and I bent it to shape to accommodate that mint condition bullet I found. Can’t really think what would cause all of them to be damaged like that…

Found them while metal detecting today. Had to use sandpaper on that first one, it was so terribly illegible. Could anyone ID them please? I’m a bit of a noob :D
