Leveling up question about class features from someone brand new to the game 👶

Hey everyone! So I literally bought the CRB last week and have just started reading it. So far everything about leveling up on pages 109-111 is pretty concise and easy to understand... but when I go to the class section I get confused. Each class has a Foundation Feature at level 1, then a Specialization Feature "when you level up" (p27) and a Mastery Feature "at higher levels" (p27) but I can find where it explains at what exact levels we get these features... is it whenever we think it makes sense? Is it as we reach each tier? Or have I just missed the page where this info is?

I also have to say that English is my second language, so it could be that I'm misunderstanding something 😅

Any help would be apreciated! Thank you

Edit: Thank you all so much for your help, I feel a little silly for not understanding that "upgraded subclass card" means taking the subclass features 🤦‍♂️

Spearhead WIP 💀 What should I do with the Barrow Guard's shields?

Hey frends. So I'm finished with my deathrattle skelletons and I'm almost done with my barrow guard. I'm gonna do the barrow guard's bases mostly purple, the same way I did the drathrattles', but I'm a bit lost as to what to do with their shields...

I want them to stand out a little and complement but contrast with the bright green and tarnished brass I went with. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

So this was a mini of the month test model for me to develop my fire skills for a Balrog i wanna paint. I have no plans to start a FEC army but I love the models and I was told I should post this on here 😊 I have a couple more of these guys I might paint up like this and use them as minions for my Balrog (as Balor or Pit Fiend) for a DnD campaign.

Hey everyone 👋 this is my second post of this mini and this time around I tentatively added some fluo oranges and yellows mixed with troll slayer orange, maphiston red and phallanx yellow, plus some dots of tutanium white (first picture). The second picture is how it was before I added the new layers.

Honestly Ive been looking at this mini for so long I cant decided what looks more like realistic fire. I would love yall's opinion on this. Which one do you prefer and why?

Also any recomendations on other relatively cheap minis I can get to further test fire effect would be very apreciated!

For the Mods: this is not a repost of the same mini to get more likes. Ive genuinely updated it and would like feed back from the comunity. Pretty please dont delete my post 🙏😅

I had this mini of the month ghoulie lying around and thought it would be prefect for my first attempt at a fire effect as the focus for my Balrog. I plan to do more tests on other minis until I feel confident enough to have a good looking Balrog.

I started by painting all the fire and osl-ish areas titanium white and white scar. I then tried to add some fluo green paint and some contrast yellows, oranges and reds, as ive seen some tutorials online that do this, but when I added the contrasts, it all became a mess, as the fluo reactivated and mixed with everything.

So I ended up going in with white scar, yriel yellow, troll slayer orange, mephiston red and corvus black and just blended between all of them. I the added some dots of tutanium white to the "hottest" parts.

I would love some CC and any recommendations on any techniques and/or paints I can use to step up my game.

Also, if you have some recommendations for relatively cheap but good quality models I can use for further testing, that would be much apreciated!

Hey! So this is my second post of this test mini for what eventually will be the Balrog. I wanted to show you guys what it looks like from a less flettering light and, as you can see, the white is definately as bright as I can get it, I think, butbit looks a bit chalky to me... any advice on improving the look? Im afraid that if I keep adding white it will look thick a bloby.

Edit: I have to be honest and say that these pick were taken under a direct soft white light with very little other lights around, so I think its a very flattering light for the paint job. If you want to have a look at it with a more defused day light, where its not so flattering but you can see the paint job a little closer, here it is

So I made a post yesterday about how I feel a bit frustrated that TMM isn't quite working for what I want my barrow guard's blades to look like. So after years of avoiding it, I finally decided to give NMM a go to see if it works.

Im quite happy with how it looks, especially from diferent angles (a trouble I was having with TMM), but it still doesnt feel quite right... but I cant put my finger on it. Any suggestions on how I can improve?

Second pic so you can see what it looks like at a more table top distance.

Also, this is a test model I got to try out different ideas, this isn't quite what my barrow guard will look like.

Hey everyone! I always run into this problem with TMMs, where as soon as you look at it from the wrong angle it dissapears (see pic 2). But its never been as noticable as with these minis. Any advice on how I could fix this? Or should I just stop avoiding NMM and gives it a go? Would it look weird to have a TMM armour next to a NMM weapon?

Any advice would be really apreciated.

Edit: thank you everyone for the great suggestions! I'm gonna be trying put some new techniques for achieving what I indended.

I just wanna make it clear that I'm not hating on TMM 😅 To be fair reading it back now, I realise I was quite more annoyed than I am now 😑 was a little too quick to blame TMM in general and not the fact that it was just not the right technique to achieve what I want. Thanks again for eveyone who helped me realise that.
