Hi everyone, I’m training for SF selection but my schedule is totally out of whack. I cannot settle down to a satisfactory schedule because my legs are just so sore all the time. It has only come about recently, when I decreased my training volume, I don’t know why
My routine for most of the last month I wanted to maintain was in three day blocks. For example
Monday: morning run, lift, night run
Tuesday: morning run, calisthenics, night run
Wednesday: ruck
Thurs-Sat: repeat
Sunday: rest
And then I got some overuse pains and lowered my volume a lot last week. But now I want to ramp back up to that volume I realise my legs are sore fucking sore, it’s really frustrating and despairing because I feel like I’m not pushing myself hard enough and wasting the time I have.
I can’t even hit/sustain Z4 in the hard runs I do now because the soreness is just such a mental drag. Don’t even talk about intervals or repeats. Hell I’m typing this after a long run I tapped out after a couple miles because my fucking legs were just sore and it sucked. I was barely Z2.
I’m not sure if it’s lifting, I’m lifting 2-3 times a week doing 5x5 (so squats every session). I never did squats in the past and am approaching bodyweight sets. Is this volume too much for my current training regime?
feel I am constantly taking rests, breaks, tapping out, undertraining in general. But my legs are just so sore. I don’t understand. What the fuck is going on???? Will steroids help?
