Hi all, I really enjoy listening to music, and for now that happens via Apple Music streaming through an Echo View or my Sony 2.1 soundbar with woofer connected to my TV. Music sounds alright, but I really want to get something better AND bring vinyl into the mix.

Where I am getting stuck is that as I bring the capacity to play vinyl, I also want to make sure my streamed music also sounds better than with my current options. Here is what I was thinking:

  • Fluance RT82 - Some of you have suggested this as a great entry TT that I can later upgrade
  • Fosi X5
  • Fluance Ai61 powered speakers - They have Bluetooth and I assume they will stream my music better than the Echo View or the Sony 2.1 bar

My budget right now is $1,000 so I have some wiggle room. With the setup above I assume I can always make the system better by getting an amplifier and better speakers later, the TT should work equally well with upgraded equipment.

Where I struggle with making the decision is... am I wasting the money on the active speakers and should rather invest on a decent amp? Is there a good amp/system that works well with streamed music? At some point it would be great to have a 5.1 system with a bass.

For context, I don't need to connect the TV to this. I'm happy with the TV sound with the bar. This is purely for streamed audio playing in a living room/dinning room space for streamed music and for vinyl.

Thank y'all for your continued advice

Greetings everyone!

Entering vinyl for the first time. For context, I'm looking for good quality sound and not necessarily the loudest setup as I live in a condo with shared walls. I like listening to rock, classic music and jazz. I've done some research and I wanted to share my current pick so people with more experience can give me advice that might prevent me from a mistake.

Turntable and speakers: Audio Technica LP60X with Edifier R1280DB sold as a package at Turntable Lab for $439

Bluetooth headphones: Sony WH-1000XM5

The headphones don't necessarily need to be BT, and I see myself mostly enjoying the records through the speakers, but the BT headphones might be a good option to increase the volume without disturbing the neighbors. Also they can double as gaming headphones since I currently use my air pods and they die after 2-3 hours.

Am I making good choices? What would you do with a ~$500 max budget for a turntable and speakers. Open to suggestions!

Thanks!
