Mother’s Day and already I was called a fool by my Mom
Happy mother’s day everyone! (From South Africa)
I (18F) am currently visiting my divorced mom with my brother (M27) for Mother’s Day. I never grew up with my Mom since I lived with my Dad (not the greatest either) and my mother has suffered from a number of addictions and issues.
So far, things were going well. We came, greeted and things were going well.
Since we’re having a braai (barbecue), my brother went out to go grab some meat and other essentials.
Then it was me and my mother in the house, and we started baking muffins. Through out the whole process my mother was making passive aggressive comments but I just let it go over my head since that’s how she is.
And soon as we were waiting for the muffins to bake, my mother went to her boyfriend left me with the muffins. When the muffins were ready, I proceeded to let her know but she insisted I let the muffins stay in the oven longer. Well I told her that I was going upstairs to call somebody and she then proceeded to nod and say she’ll handle the muffins.
After a while, I heard my name being called. And I rushed downstairs. My brother had came back as well as with a cousin of mine.
Long story short, the muffins were burnt and I was already getting called a fool for leaving them out too long. She said a few hurtful stuff but I don’t know why I expected her to be a bit different since it was Mother’s Day.
Even as I’m typing this,she continues to go on about something that took place almost an hour ago.
