I feel like our head nurse creates schedules just for the sake of having one, rather than based on actual staffing needs. We are not understaffed, and even the newer staff can function just as well as the more experienced ones.
Whenever we submit requests, it seems like she intentionally schedules us in a way that makes the days before our requested time more difficult. She also doesn’t check the logbook for scheduled cases, which leads to poor staffing—sometimes we are short-staffed during busy cases, and other times there are too many staff for manageable workloads.
For example, I might be scheduled for a night shift from 9 PM to 5 AM, and then assigned an evening shift the next day from 1 PM to 9 PM. Is that even allowed?
