Is review volume more important than the quality of your Google reviews? For context, I bought a cafe a few months ago and I’m trying to improve our Google Maps ranking. So far, I’ve made sure our listing is complete and under the correct categories. I’ve been responding to new reviews within 24 hours. But I’m not sure if I should focus on getting more reviews or higher-quality more detailed reviews.

Obviously, I could try to focus on both at the same time but some strategies are better for getting a lot of quick reviews. Like I’m thinking about adding an incentive for employees to encourage reviews but I worry that if I do this then we’ll get a bunch of reviews with little to no content.

I’ve heard that Google cares about what is actually written and it effects more than just rankings (like their AI overview). Does anyone here know if that’s true? I’d appreciate any insight or advice.
