Hi everyone! I’m moving to the area for a summer internship and am looking for short-term housing (around 3 months) from June to August. I’ll be working in Salinas, but I’m open to living in nearby towns too - ideally somewhere closer to the ocean and with things to do after work/weekends. I’m currently considering places like Monterey, Marina, Seaside, Pacific Grove, etc.

A little about what I’m looking for:

• Budget: ideally under $2.5k/month
• Looking for: 1BR, 1 Bath
• Priorities: safe area, decent commute to Salinas (max 30 mins, ideally under 20), walkable or at least close to cafes/restaurants/beach/outdoor activities
• Would love recommendations on:
  • neighborhoods to look into
  • apartment buildings/property managers
  • towns that make the most sense for someone in their 20s working in Salinas for the summer
  • areas to avoid

Would also appreciate advice on commute times between Monterey/Marina/Seaside and Salinas during work hours. Thank you!
