Hypothetical project question as a sewing neophyte
I have never sewn, let alone made a from scratch garment. But I’m sure r/sewingforbeginners know the daydreaming that happens about a hypothetical project, and maybe I’ll get into the hobby to build up the skill for this project. Anyway, I’m interested in fabric, specifically the custom printing of fabric for I don’t have the slightest hope I’ll find my perfect pattern in the wild.
Can you get custom hoodie fabric or even heavily patterned hoodie fabric? The heavy maybe 200-300gsm cotton blend with the pilling inside and smoother outside. Because when I look up “polka dot hoodie” I find pictures with fabric that looks more polyester and ‘plasticy’ per se than the classic hoodie fabric (Picture 2). Maybe I’m just not good at judging fabric texture from pictures.
My goal is a disorientating/eye-straining pattern and color, but the project isn’t worth it if I cannot get the classic hoodie feel with my pattern wants. None of that smooth is this a swimsuit bullshit. Of course that may be the least of my problems with the naive ambition of my design.
Any alternatives for fabric choices, glaring issues about realistic making of the garment that I wouldn’t know about, if you have any design suggestions on how I can better achieve my vision of disorienting eccentric pink hoodie, or the hypothetical learning/design process/steps I would need to wade my way through to get a good product. All and anything would be appreciated.
Sincerely, my first post on this account.
BezBud.
