Hi everyone,

I’m a first-year Neuroscience Master’s student from Turkey, and I’m applying for a Belgian Schengen visa (Short Stay Academic) for an Zero-Grant Erasmus+ Traineeship at Ghent University this summer. I had a refusal from Italy last year for another internship that was not part of Erasmus (reason: "unconvincing purpose/financials"), so I’m really anxious about getting everything perfect this time.

My Financial Profile:

  • Monthly Income: I receive two scholarships (government and university). In total my net income is approximately €1000.
  • Savings: I have €1,600 in a Euro account for relocation and emergencies.
  • Accommodation: I have a confirmed spot at a university residence for €560/month.

My concern is the €45/day rule: The Belgian checklist says I need at least €45/day if I have a fixed address (which I do, since I'm in a dorm). My internship is for 75 days, which means I need roughly €3,375. My total resources (scholarships + savings) come to about €4,100+. Is this margin safe enough?

Any feedback from people who applied for Belgium or had a previous refusal would be life-saving! Thanks!
