Urgent treatment of eclampsia in nursing cat
Hello all. Before you say anything, I am trying my best to get her to an actual vet but as of now that's not in the cards. I noticed what seemed to be symptoms of eclampsia manifesting as a relatively constant and rythmic diaphragmatic spasm which has worsened within the last 48 hours. My mother who is a vet tech agreed that it appears to be eclampsia. I do not have access to IV or subq calcium gluconate at the moment. We have tried to manage her symptoms while they are still relatively mild by feeding her wet food with crushed up Tums, and she ate them yesterday but is now no longer wanting to eat. I'm thinking I may have to make an oral suspension and squirt it into her mouth but in the meantime I would appreciate any help at all in keeping her stable before she can receive further treatment.
EDIT: my mother brought home calcium gels with liquid inside I can extract and put into some food. Since it's pretty much flavorless she's much more willing to eat it and her condition seemed to improve slightly following 1200mg calcium carbonate
