Hello, and thanks in advance. I’m a pretty handy DIYer, but need some advice before continuing.
Set up: STA rite SLD-1 deep well jet pump, 1hp on 6 zone system.
Problem: system is losing pressure causing pump to cycle every minute. No obvious leaks above ground
Troubleshooting to date:
- verified air tank pressure
- no leaks on pump casing or other obv locations
- installed a master valve above ground at pump discharge. Though I had a downstream leak. With master valve shut I still lost system pressure
- dug up well location. Apparently it is a two- hole set up
- pulled suction pipe and check valve. Check valve (pvc) leaks some during a standing water test.
- I expected to see a foot valve at the end of the suction pipe, but it was a clean, manufactured end of the pipe
- pipe pulled out with no effort
Questions:
- do I just replace the check valve? (PVC again or brass)
- do I need to pull the jet pipe? If so, what do I need to do then?
(Pictured is the suction pipe and check valve in center; one of the two partial buried pipes is the jet pipe. )
Thanks!
