I’ve been straightening my hair for as long as I can remember. I received my first flat iron in middle school and never looked back. I just assumed my hair was ugly and frizzy with weird bends and used heat to beat it into submission.
On a whim I decided to explore wavy/curly hair routines, inspired by the warm weather and sweating while I’m blow drying. It’s been a few weeks now. My goal was to acquire a few products without breaking the bank. After lots of tutorials, here is what I’ve come up with for my fine, 2C (I think), medium porosity hair.
Wash with Amika Big Hit Volumizing Shampoo x2
Condition with Living Proof Curl Conditioner
I style on soaking wet hair. I’ve been skipping any kind of curl cream because they seem too heavy, but always happy to hear suggestions. I section into three parts: one crown section and a section on each side.
Cake The Curl Whip Whipped Curl Mousse from roots to ends and brush with a Bounce Curl Define EdgeLift Brush.
Finally I use a little Not Your Mother’s Frizz Control Curl Talk Sculpting Gel level 3. I glaze this on then scrunch.
Then I scrunch a little with a T-shirt and diffuse.
The last photo is day 2 hair. To revive, I mist when I wake up and then apply a little Not Your Mother’s Curl Talk Spray Gel and air dry.
I’m not sure what my question is here. I think I’m looking for areas I can improve. I’m usually disappointed with how straight my roots are but I get the feeling that’s something else I’ll have to learn to love. Probably also due for a haircut.
Is my hair “stringy” ? Am I doing a curly routine when I should focus on a wavy routine? Send help.
