I already made a post about it once but I was tired and it was messy, so I'm making a new one.

Recently, for the past 2 weeks, I've been having an issue where the CTRL, SHIFT, and F1 keys either do not work or break a game in some fashion.

• For example, the SHIFT and CTRL keybinds outright do not work in Helldivers any more. Pressing them does nothing, I can't even bind any controls to SHIFT or CTRL, as if the game is receiving 0 input from those 2 specific keys. I've been having this issue for the past week
• For the game Holdfast, pressing SHIFT and F1 both disable my WSAD and T voicechat controls, and the only way to fix that is to close out the game and reopen it. However I believe CTRL works fine in that game. I've been having this issue for the past 2 weeks.
• For a game called Operator, the SHIFT key does not work, however I could rebind keys to SHIFT, so the game was still receiving those inputs, the key just doesn't follow through on the acts it's bound to. I've had this issue for about 4 weeks now.

I suspect that either Game Bar is funking up my stuff and trying to use those keys while I have games open, or some other overlay or recording system is trying to do something with those keys, and it's superseding the game's inputs. Although I've looked up what CTRL+SHIFT+F1 does and none of answers seem to be related to my little theory. I also don't make use of game bar or overlays/recording tools, other than occasionally opening the Steam or Discord overlays, I just never have those sorts of things open.

I did previously make a post about this issue on the r/holdfastgame before I realized it was a wider problem, and someone suggested turning off Game Bar. When checking my computer settings, I found that Game Bar was already off, *BUT* the "Use _ + _ as Guide buttons in apps" option was active, and turning that off TEMPORARILY fixed Holdfast. But the issue has since returned in that game and obviously others, and both those options are still off, so idk. I've also noticed that Game Bar and Xbox both still had things running on task manager

I have a feeling that I'm on the right track, but I'm not that tech savvy so I'm a little stumped. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

For the past 2 or so weeks I've been having an issue where certain keys haven't been working, but it's a little different for each game (Shift and F1 for Holdfast, Shift and CTRL for Helldivers). And windowed full screen isn't functioning entirely right either.

I first came across this issue when I played Holdfast a couple weeks ago.

The first symptom of my problem was when I pressed shift to try and run, it would disable my voicechat and movement keys. The only way I could fix it was to entirely quit out the game and rejoin. F1 had the same effect. Rebinding and resetting my keys didn't do anything. I made a reddit post on the holdfast subreddit to see if anyone could help, and someone suggested turning off Game Bar. Game Bar was already off, but the "Use _ + _ as Guide button in apps" option was on. Turning that off seemed to fix my issue at first. I could then freely play holdfast again without issue for about a week. But recently the issue has returned, and I once again cant use either of those keybinds in Holdfast without breaking the game. And this is while both Game Bar and Guide buttons off.

And now, I'm having a very similar issue in Helldivers, where Shift and CTRL do not function, they just dont do anything, I cant run and I cant open the stratagem menu. Rebinding and resetting those keybinds have not fixed it either. I have reset my computer, verified the files of both games, and reinstalled both games and that has not fixed the issue. Ravenfield also suffers from it, SHIFT doesnt function, however CTRL works fine.

The second symptom of my problem is to do with full screen or windowed full screen. For Holdfast, after pressing either shift or F1, it causes my mouse to disappear while im tabbed outside of the game until I close the game out. In Helldivers, going into windowed full screen does not lock my mouse to the game. If I make my character look far enough left, my mouse moves onto my second monitor.

I'm so unbelievably lost. The fullscreen/keybind issues started at the exact same time when I opened Holdfast, and ever since then I've been facing similar but disjointed issues in other games. Random things seem to temporarily fix each individual issue (opening random menus, restarting the game, entering and exiting full screen modes, disabling game bar and other options) but the issues will very quickly return just as randomly. All my keys work just fine for my computer, I can use shortcut keybinds fine and type without issue. But as soon as I get into a game, some of those keybinds stop working. SHIFT seems to be the only constant, the other keys only break in some games while working fine in others.

Nothing opens on my computer so I dont think its trying to like activate some computer keybind. And I haven't been able to find anything running that I dont recognize. I've scanned for viruses multiple times and I've turned up dry. It's a new computer that I've had for a few months now, and this hasn't been an issue until I opened that game 2 weeks ago (I have played plenty of Holdfast on this PC before that moment with no issue). Maybe I fat-fingered something? Maybe its something else! I have no idea, it's got me stumped. I'm already not very tech-savvy so this is almost a nightmare-scenario for me lol.
