Base Set Charizard 4/130 flagged as trimmed by eBay Authentication.Miscut or truly trimmed?
Hey all, I’m selling off my childhood Pokémon collection to help cover wedding expenses and ran into something I genuinely wasn’t expecting.
I listed my Base Set Charizard 4/130 holo on eBay alongside other vintage holos. eBay Authentication passed it as authentic but rejected it for suspected trimming. I was floored.
The facts:
• I pulled this card from a Base Set booster pack as a kid in the early 2000s
• It has been in a binder sleeve in my possession ever since
• I did not trim this card
When I got it back and examined it, I can see what triggered the flag: the top back edge appears noticeably sharper compared to the other three edges, which show the kind of whitening and corner wear you’d expect from a 25-year-old LP card. I’m not disputing what I see, I just can’t explain it, because I know this card’s history.
What I’m genuinely asking:
1. Does this look like deliberate trimming to experienced eyes, or could this be a factory cut inconsistency from that era?
2. Is there any path forward here, or is this card done for resale purposes?
Not here to argue, just looking for honest insight from people who know this stuff better than I do.
