I ran a test to check how much res you need to spawn each army from the Jiangnan tower.

To start, 8 barracks were built around the tower and 13 spears were produced for a total of 2240 res to spawn the first army. Following that, 6 or 7 spears were needed to spawn successive armies for an increase of 480 or 560 res each. On average, each army needed ~500 more res than the previous.

The tower capped out at 8320 res to spawn an army. Shaolin monks do not contribute and scouts do contribute.
