What does TESVI need to do to be the “Skyrim” of this generation.
Each Elder Scrolls game was groundbreaking for its time. But Skyrim was especially popular and the amount of world-building and freedom of choice was beyond anything anyone had experienced at the time.
Now we have experienced Skyrim, and now that game mechanics have gotten incredibly more advanced, the bar is set much higher. TESVI will need to outcompete games like Crimson Desert, Dragons Dogma 2, Expedition 33, etc.
Personally, I don’t think simply having good world building will be enough, if it’s still extremely simple combat and very janky and rigid character animations, it will feel too much like a game from 2010, just with better graphics.
What do you think they should do to bring the gameplay up to modern standards, and keep it less boring and more engaging, while maintaining the core elements of why people love Elder Scrolls?
Personally, I think a lock on system like souls games have, more kinetic combat, more realistic impact reactions, and combat that require a bit more of a tactical approach. Not exactly like a souls-game, but more along those lines, just without needing the lightning fast reaction times and insane difficulty.
I feel like making the combat require a bit more “thinking” rather than just pressing the attack button over and over until they are dead, will make potions, scrolls, magic and enchantments more worthwhile to use.
I want to be able to make my own pirate haven and have a pirate crew
I was thinking, if this game takes place in the Iliac Bay, and especially if their is sailing (but even if there isn’t) I think it would be cool to take the settlement building of Fallout 4 and Starfield and be able to turn an island into your own pirate haven.
If there were multiple islands to choose from, maybe each one had different resources, landscapes, etc.
Also, much like the pirate cove in Oblivion, if you could assemble your own crew and send them on missions, but it would be way more complex than it is in Oblivion.
Whenever you encounter a follower NPC, you can ask them to join your crew, this sends them to your island. On the island, there’s a map with available piracy jobs. Each job has different stats needed for your crew to be successful, like maybe one is cracking the safe at a fort that is storing a bunch of gold, the percentage of success goes up if you have crew members with high sneak and lockpocking.
Or maybe a job where they fight and take another pirate cove, this one requires you have crew members with high combat skill.
These jobs would get you resources, Gold, crafting ingredients, scrolls, ore, etc.
you could make multiple islands into pirate havens and have a network of resources collected through piracy and from the islands.
If this game is going to have a Mediterranean type feel and have a lot of emphasis on seafaring like a lot of people are predicting, I think this would be cool as hell, especially since pirates exist in the Elder Scrolls universe.
