My wife and I just had to take a Rainbow Ride last Thursday with our 9 year old Malinois, Hercules, and my heart is still breaking. He had a spinal cord bruise that left him paralyzed from the waist down, couldn't control when he went to the bathroom, and couldn't even sit up. In addition, he had an 2"x2" abscess on his hip. We gave it almost two months to see if he'd recover, but nothing. When it was time, he was curled up in my arms, relaxed, and just slipped away. As much as I wish I could've had more time with him, I have to keep reminding myself that "the last and greatest gift you can give is a dignified passing". Daddy's gonna miss you Bubba.
