So I have an aftermarket trailer hitch installed on my 2022 Q5. So far so good. Only pulled my boat so far and it tows well. I also have a small off-road travel trailer. It would be about 3500 pounds FULLY loaded, but we don't come close to that usually. I used to pull it with another vehicle with sway bars etc.
I know you don't do sway bars with the unibodies so I am going to get a new hitch. After doing some measurements though, it looks like I need about a 10" lift on my trailer hitch.
Does this seem normal? I know our trailer is an off road version and has ground clearance but that seems high.
Or is there another way people are setting them up? Just want to be sure I am not missing something.
I only pull the trailer 5-6 times a year, and usually no longer than a couple of hours, but its worth it to me to set this up as safely as possible.
And related note, the aluminum adjustable height hitches, yay or nay? The wife sometimes take the trailer herself so if I can get something lighter that does work o would like to do that.
