Swearing around baby/toddler
At what point would you request that people stop swearing around baby/toddler? LO is 2 months old, and I feel like if I asked my in-laws to stop swearing around him now, they would just have the response of, “Oh, he’s just a baby, he doesn’t understand yet”. But then it would prime them to be annoyed by my “nagging” when he’s a little older and I do ask them to stop.
I don’t love the “sh**s” and “fu**s” they throw around, but I feel like I could have a conversation with my LO about adult words. But I hate their habit of calling people “bi***” and “cu**” (my brother-in-law has a coworker that he exclusively refers to as “The Bi***”). That would be a tricky conversation to have, saying “yes, they are being very mean and you should not call people names” (they would take that very personally).
