NY title digitally shows lien released, is lien release paper still needed to sell?
So my partner bought a car off a friend to fix & sell. This person had just made their final payment a few months back, and then received in the mail from the finance company a "congrats, your vehicle *make, model, vin number, etc* has been paid off & the lien has been released." It has been over 60 days & they haven't sent her anything else.
The notice is on company letterhead, but there is no signature. It just ends with "sincerely *typed out name of the company itself*" Not a person's signature. The DMV system shows there's no longer a lien.
In order to sell the car, does that notice combined with the title and the DMV system saying it's released mean it can be sold? Or does the friend need to get the finance company to send a different notice? She called them up and requested they send a lien release, thinking the paper they sent wasn't acceptable, so she could sell it & they said it would take another 30-60 days.
So now I'm wondering if the original notice is actually acceptable proof of lien release even though it ended with the company "signing" it instead of an individual at the company signing it?
Edited for a little bit of clarity.
