Possible ID? [NY]
I was wondering if it’s possible to ID chicks this young? I think they’re owls but I’m unsure of the kind. These pictures were sent to me by my mom, she works in vet medicine and a tree company cut down a tree they were in and left them with her. She’s been keeping them warm (no food or water) and is contacting a rehab as I type. We’re just curious about the species, which the rehabber will probably know but. I told her not to pick them up again as well.
Edit: They’ve been placed with a rehabber! He said they’re about a week old eastern screech owlets. He’ll hand feed them for a few days then place them with a surrogate mother screech!
