Disgusting Roommate.. I feel used.
Hi everyone!
I'm currently in college and I decided to live with my friend with on-campus apartments. BAD MISTAKE! I've been friends with this guy for about a year and a half now, and he's horrible.
Start of last semester, my roommate was pretty clean but then after he got into a relationship he just became disgusting. He would leave dishes in the sink for weeks on ends, he put egg shells in the sinks that I would later dish out because he left them there for weeks. He would trash the place and stay at his girlfriends place while I had to deal with the mess and smell.
This semester, he would make the kitchen unusable by leaving dishes out in the sink. At this point, I've cleaned up after him 14 or more times. I know I shouldn't be keeping count but I've been the only one mopping, brooming, sweeping, etc. He hasn't touched any cleaning objects in months.
FAST FORWARD THIS MONTH
- I decided in March to not clean up after this guy at all. He made Shrimp Alfredo Pasta and left the dishes in the sink and I had decided this time I would not be cleaning it up. The dishes were in the sink for a month and a half, in this duration I texted him, confronted him in person, and he just ignored me both times.
I decided to put the dishes in a bag in front of his door. He got incredibly angry and started spam calling me and getting hostile and aggressive. He told me that I was the reason he was dirty, because I was dirty first he was dirty now and he stopped caring. Which doesn't make sense because I've been cleaning up after him year round.
I'm finally moving out in 2 days, he is moving out before me, and I'm scared that he will trash the place as a final ditch attempt to get a one up on me.
I am no longer friends with this person because he disrespected me, cussed at me, and has been very aggressive and hostile.
I feel used and betrayed, I brought him food when he was going through his break up. I was the one cleaning up after him for a year, I was the one mopping, brooming, swiffering, and he got away with making me clean up his mess when I'm incredibly busy with my classes as I'm taking Biochemistry and I'm in a research lab.
My questions for you?:
What should I do? Should I text him a final message? What would you guys have done?
TLDR: Feeling used and betrayed after roommate has been leaving messes that I have been cleaning up year round. Upon letting his dishes sit in the sink for a month, I confronted him. He cussed at me, was aggressive, and incredibly rude. I'm moving out in a few days, should I leave a final message? Any tips/advice you can give?
