What bug could this be?

Hello everyone,

I am new to reddit, so please apologise if I make any mistakes in posting, but I need help to identify what I am dealing with.

I already tried posting on r/bedbugs but I was told it could also be something else, so I am trying my luck here.

I am on vacation currently in Japan and after two days we saw a bug on the bed. Upon closer inspection we saw a few more on the cover of the bed. I am truly unsure what kind of bug that is, but if you squish it, blood comes out.

One user has suggested ticks, but we found five of them only in one bedsheet and we do not have any pets.

I apologise for the slightly blurry pictures and thank you all for your help!

Edit to add more context: Perhaps it helps that they seem to be kind of translucent? If I shine on it with a flashlight you can see the blood in them. They also only crawl, I have not seen them fly or jump yet.

We are currently in Tokyo, and we did not go to any forests or similar. So if they are ticks, I am not sure where they could come from, as we were only on concrete and five of them seems a bit much for that

Is this a bed bug or something else?

Hello everyone,

I am new to this community and to reddit overall, but I just don’t know who else can currently help me identify what I am dealing with.

So I am on vacation currently in Japan and after two days we saw a bug on the bed. Upon closer inspection we saw a few more on the cover of the bed. I am truly unsure what kind of bug that is, but if you squish it, blood comes out.

I apologise for the slightly blurry pictures and thank you for your help!

Update: I also asked in r/whatisthisbug and it seems I am dealing with some mites from rodents. Thank you all again.

Update 2: We are sure now they are mites. They seem to be coming in larger numbers from the a/c. Sadly the owners of this place were not very helpful and send someone who seemingly never worked with something like this before, so we are leaving asap.
