i (25f) have been seeing a guy (30m) the last 7 months and recently had the conversation as to what we were doing and where we stand because he was going on a work trip and i was going on a 2.5 week solo trip to thailand so i wanted to know if i was wasting my time or not. outcome of the conversation came to that he does like me and he's more of a slow burn when it comes to relationships. is there such thing as too long of a timeline for a slow burn? or is today's definition of dating ruining my view on this?

backstory: we first matched on hinge when it was an extremely busy time for me work wise as i was working almost everyday and only had 5-6 days off a month for 3 months straight so i didn't see him much the first 3 months after we had matched. now we see each other on a weekly basis during the weekend. we used to talk more often but over the last few months, it's dialed down a bit as we both have our own independent lives that do keep us occupied so, speaking for myself, i don't always get back to him right away and vice versa. we do also go out to dinner every week that he plans or we'll just go if we feel like it. i don't want to say i don't have high standards but i'm pretty laidback so i could really careless as to what we're doing, i just enjoy spending time with him that range from getting coffee to going to a music festival together.

can't tell if this will evolve or if i'm walking straight into disaster as i've never experience a slow burn before. i personally do like him so far but i have a tendency to keep my guard up especially in a scenario like this because i don't want myself to be vulnerable to someone where there's a chance that he can take advantage of my feelings. i'm coming from a mindset where in my last relationship, i gave my all just for it to not work out after 2.5 years, stayed single for about 1.5 years until now, and i'm nervous to put myself in the position to really put myself out there in this "relationship" just for me to get burned again.
