No bonvoy credit card, but still showing as a card member
Hi all,
Maybe this has already happened to one or more of you, so I’m hopeful someone will have some insight.
I had a Marriott Bonvoy Boundless credit card through Chase for a while, but I canceled that card in August of last year.
I’m attempting to apply for the Amex Bonvoy Brilliant credit card and take advantage of the bonus points for the new card, but I’m being told I’m ineligible. I’m aware of the restrictions stating that you cannot take advantage of the bonus for a new card while holding a different Bonvoy credit card, nor can you get the bonus points within 24 months of getting a bonus for a different card.
Like I said, I canceled my Boundless card in August, so I don’t currently have a Bonvoy credit card. I’ve also made sure that it’s been more than 24 months since I originally got the bonus points for the Boundless card that I have since canceled, which it has.
My dilemma is this, when I open my Bonvoy account on either the app or the website, it says that I’m a “Marriott Bonvoy Cardmember”. Customer service doesn’t see this on their end, I don’t have any Bonvoy cards in my account’s wallet, and my Chase app no longer shows that credit card account.
Does anyone know why I’m still seeing the “Marriott Bonvoy Cardmember” on my account when CS isn’t? Is there a way to remedy this? I’m fairly certain this must be the factor that is causing me to be ineligible for the Brilliant card bonus.
Thank you in advance for the help!
Edit for TLDR; Trying to get bonus points for the Bonvoy Brilliant Card, but being told I’m ineligible. Don’t currently have any Bonvoy credit cards and it’s been more than 24 months since the last time I got bonus points. Account shows that I’m a Cardmember, so I think that’s why I’m “ineligible”. How can I get the Cardmember status removed so I can get the bonus points? Customer service doesn’t see anything about Cardmember status on their end.
