Does stainless steel crowns mean baby root canal was performed?

Hi, I just have a question I'm hoping to clear up. My son has 5 crowns. The first crown he recieved had a pulpectomy done, and unfortunately 1.5 years later has abcessed. I've read that failure rates with that procedure on molars is common. I do not know if the other 4 recieved the same treatment. Could those have been crowned simply due to cavities? Would it benefit me to call and ask? Does that mean his other crowns are likely to failure? I'm honestly petrified my 5.5 year old will end up with no teeth to chew. I've already made so many diet changes, good oral hygiene, and going to start him on a probiotic. What are the odds all his molars will end up extracted?

Photo attached. Son is 5 yo and has had a stainless steel crown for about a year now maybe? Now I noticed a bump while brushing his teeth. Is this an abcess? Does it automatically mean extraction or is there any chance it can be replaced? Please answer as I've made so many changes to his diet and I just don't know what to do anymore.

Hi all,

I have a 5.5 year old that's had a few stainless steel crowns put on his back molars over the last year. There is one spot in particular that always slightly bleeds when flossed. I use string floss and floss very gently but there is usually a tiny bit of bleeding. Not EVERY time but enough that it bothers me.

He says he has ZERO pain or discomfort. My question is this: is chronic gum inflammation around crowns normal in a child? With no pain? My worry is that maybe the decay wasn't taken out properly. Can it affect the adult tooth underneath or is that unlikely?
