FIG BLC

Quick question about BLC at FIG. Are we allowed to go home on weekends? I live within an hour and my wife is very pregnant with a due date a week after the course ends. I took an MOS-T course there last year and we could leave on the weekends as long as we were back by first formation on Monday.

Title is the jist of my question, this page has been extremely helpful with my own claims so I figured it ask this.

So my grandfather is a Vietnam vet who retired out of the Air Force in the 90’s. Did a deployment to nam and 2 to the Middle East, served over 20 years and retired. He started opening up about his service and told me he’s only rated at 10% for tinnitus and was denied for everything else he put in for. He has a decent amount of health issues that could be related to his service and I want to try and help him put in some additional claims or remedy the ones he was denied for.

My problem is I don’t know where to start. He has very little medical records on hand but insisted he reported his ailments and problems while in. Also him and my grandmother just turned 80 so it’s kinda hard getting accurate info out of them or explaining how to navigate the internet to help. I tried to see how they went about the process the first time and how they submitted the original claims but all I could get was “we went to the VA and submitted them”. And additional problem is they live 12 hours away so it’s going to be difficult to assist them in person. I was thinking about contacting a VSO in their area to possibly schedule an appointment but I also know that VSO’s aren’t the best option. I’d prefer to do them myself because I’ve had really good success with all my claims but again not really sure where to start since I’m been 30 years since he got out. Any help is welcomed.
