AITA for telling my mom to walk out of the store

Hello. This afternoon I was taking my parents to the airport after they visited for the week. we had a lot of time beforehand and decided to stop at the outlet mall for her to try and exchange a scrunchie she bought for a headband instead. I walked in with her and she began to ask an employee if she could do the exchange. The employee said "unfortunately our policy states that all sales are final and we are unable to do the exchange." My mom proceeded to ask for a manager which then came over and said the same thing. My mom said "I stopped here on the way to the airport, can you please help me out?" I then grabbed the scrunchie and saw that it indeed said final sale on the tag itself, which was never taken off of the scrunchie and I showed her that it said final sale right on it. I didn't say a word during this entire interaction. My mom then proceeded to escalate and talk about "karma will come around.." and before she could say anything I simply said "Mom, walk out of the store." It wasn't a scream, it wasn't a stern statement, that is all I said. An employee right next to us laughed at the moment, which I would've said something but I was more focused on de escalation in the moment. We proceeded to walk out of the store and drive to the airport in complete silence, where I wasn't even able to give her a hug goodbye and hear "I love you" which honestly destroyed my day because I didn't think what I did was irrational. Is there something I should've done different?
